Our trainings are designed as lived experiences of yoga — where study and practice are supported by ceremony, rhythm, rest, nourishment, and meaningful time together in community. We value depth over speed, embodiment over performance, and integration over accumulation of information.

A past visitor described it beautifully:
“I thought this miraculous, spiritual experience was in the land – and it is. But I have walked many lands… and have not experienced it before.
I thought it must come from the sacred structures like Opa and the Sanctuary – and it does. But I have been in many holy places… and not felt this before.
I thought it must come from the spirituality of the people – and it does. But I have been with many people in many lands and have never experienced this kind of spirituality before.”
— Joan O’Flynn

The Sanctuary — A cozy, quiet space on the property where you can journal, study, meditate, or take a moment to settle. It’s a supportive place to retreat between sessions.

Lauren Ford is a devotional yoga student and teacher whose work is drawn from a deep love for movement, breath, and embodied self-inquiry. With extensive training in traditional yoga, creative vinyasa sequencing, yin yoga, therapeutic breathwork, and anatomy, she offers an approach that blends purposeful technique with intuitive inner listening.
Lauren is passionate about practices that help students genuinely know themselves. Her teaching is grounded in a well rounded approach that creates a thoughtful balance between meeting one’s edge to build resilience and slowing down to relax and integrate life. She sees the yoga practice as a mirror to the self, revealing important information about one’s inner world and how to move through life authentically.

Renae is a dedicated yoga student and teacher whose journey is rooted in compassion, finding peace of mind, and a deep respect for the lineage of yoga. She completed her foundational 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with YogaRenew, where she discovered her desire to continue to dive into the practice beyond its physical elements. Committed to lifelong learning, Renae has continued her studies with a range of teachers including Vincent Lu, Nicki Doane, Ryan Leier, Ramaswami Srivatsa, Father Joe Pereira, Sri Shubha and Eddie Modestini. Each teacher has shaped her understanding of yoga — from alignment-based movement and mindful breathwork to philosophy, mantra, and scripture. Renae’s training and practice have included elements of Ashtanga, vinyasa, Iyengar, and yin yoga.
Guided by curiosity and reverence for the tradition, Renae offers classes that are grounding, mindful, and intentionally sequenced. Her aim is to support students in discovering balance, clarity, and a deeper connection to themselves — both on and off the mat by blending traditional wisdom with accessible, modern practice. She believes an essential part of being a teacher is to meet each student where they are at with compassion.
Renae loves teaching yoga because of the undeniable way it has changed her life. She came to the practice with a sense of wanting greater ease and connection with self and others, and eventually through time that was exactly what happened. A consistent and dedicated yoga practice can shift how we understand the nature of ourselves and the lives we share this Earth with. It is an honour to be of service to others and share this practice!

DANICA SLATTERY
Through somatic coaching, embodiment, and tantric practices, Danica supports individuals in creating greater freedom, agency, and aliveness in their lives. Her approach is centered in embodiment and somatic practices, making her work experiential rather than theoretical.
Her teachings are informed by her own lived, embodied experience and draw from a wide range of modalities she has studied, including (but not limited to): Somatic Coaching, Erotic Education,Trauma Resolution, Embodiment, Tantra, Emotional Alchemy, Therapeutic Movement, Psychology, Shadow Work, Inner Child Integration, Meditation, Breathwork, and Yoga.
Danica’s mission is rooted in guiding individuals back to themselves by dismantling the masks worn for validation, approval, and protection. Her offerings support individuals in finding liberation by breaking free from old patterns and limiting beliefs that have kept them small, held them back, or disconnected them from their authenticity. She helps individuals cultivate enough internal safety to surrender into the present moment and whatever life is presenting to them. She works with the mantra “Life as the Teacher” which means she invites individuals to allow the emergent field of the “right now” moment to guide them exactly where they are meant to go. She encourages individuals to see whatever is surfacing in their lives as a messenger of what needs to be felt, tended to, addressed, or acknowledged. Her deepest intention is to create safe enough spaces for individuals to open to the truth of the present moment, reveal the truth of who they are, and to experience a deep sense of belonging (free from shame).
The pillars of her work include Body Wisdom, Feminine Spirituality, Gnosis, Self-Sovereignty, Personal Responsibility, De-Shaming, Empowerment, Liberation, and Curiosity.

Feel ready to commit to a slower, deeper, and more intentional approach to learning and healing, one that honors rhythm, rest, and integration as essential parts of growth.
Lokaya Yoga School's Intention....
Lokaya Yoga School’s intention for this training program is to support students in experiencing yoga as a living, integrated practice that extends beyond the mat and into daily life. This training is rooted in the understanding that yoga is not only a physical discipline, but a holistic path of self-inquiry, ethical living, and embodied awareness. Honouring the traditional roots of yoga, the teachings are offered in a way that is accessible, relevant, and grounded in lived experience. The curriculum is guided by the Eight Limbs of Yoga, emphasizing consistent practice, self-study, community (sangha), and integration. Students are immersed in daily disciplines including asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, and reflective inquiry, offering a felt experience of a yogic way of living.
This training invites students to show up with discipline, humility, and curiosity through the natural highs and lows of an immersive journey, while being held within a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. A central intention of the program is to cultivate teachers who lead with integrity, authenticity, and care, guided by ethical boundaries, consent-based and trauma-informed approaches, and clarity of scope. Through shared practice and study, students are supported in developing a sustainable personal practice, a respect for lineage, and the confidence to teach in a way that is grounded, compassionate, and aligned with the true spirit of yoga.
How much experience do I need to attend this training?
This training is open to all levels. We recommend at least 6–12 months of consistent yoga practice, though this does not need to be daily or advanced. More important than physical ability or experience is curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to learn.

This training goes beyond learning how to teach poses. We emphasize Living Yoga — integrating yogic practices into everyday life through breath, meditation, mindful movement, philosophy, ritual, and self-study. This training is rooted in Vinyasa & Yin Yoga, with expanded study in pranayama, meditation, and yogic philosophy. You will learn how to skillfully guide intelligent, breath-led sequences while honouring the roots and depth of the tradition.
Is the training only for people who want to teach?
No. While this is a fully accredited 200-hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training, many students join primarily for personal growth, healing, and deepening their relationship with yoga as a living practice. Teaching is an invitation, not an obligation.
